Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao rushed to the train station in Changsha City, the capital of China’s Hunan province. He told the weary, stranded thousands of passengers, "I am deeply apologetic that you are stranded in the railway station and not able to go home earlier. We are now doing our best to fix thing up and you?will all be home for the spring Festival."

Hundreds of migrant workers desperate to get home have becomes stranded as a major winter storm paralyzed China. Cities were?blacked out, highways were closed because of treacherous conditions and trains in many cities were cancelled. A bus crash on an icy road in Guishou province killed at least 25 people.

Even with all the weather-related problems, the China Meteorological Administration issued yet still another red alert for more severe snowstorms in the central and eastern part of country. More than 78 million people have been affected by the snow in 14 provinces, including Anhui, Jiangxi, Hubei and Hunan.
