Latino Vote Will Decide
Tuesday’s Primary |
|
|
|
|
As the
Super Tuesday primary voting begins, Hillary Clinton is banking
on her long-time relationship with the Hispanic voters to give
her the edge. Older Hispanics favor Clinton over Obama because
they are familiar with a Clinton in the White House, while Obama
has been mostly targeting the younger Hispanic voters.
In today's primary, California, New York, New Jersey, Arizona,
New Mexico and more than a dozen other states all have large
numbers of Hispanic voters. According to the latest polls,
Clinton is being projected to win 52 percent of the vote and
Obama only collecting 19 percent
of these huge numbers. Many in the Hispanic community may chose
not to vote for Obama, whose father was black, simply because of
past tensions with the black community.
In the states of Florida and Nevada, both with large Hispanic
populations that have already held their primary contests,
Clinton captured a substantial chunk of the Latino vote.
Because of the large population changes in recent years, America
now has more and more Latino voters that will change the
political landscape of the country.
