Hillary Wins in Texas |
|
|
|
|
With a 51 to
47 percent margin, former first lady Hillary Clinton, who had
just ended a demoralizing 11-state primary election losing
streak, bested Barack Obama in Tuesday's two large state
primaries, Texas and Ohio. At the same time, she posted a win in
Rhode Island.
?
Clinton ran up huge margins among Hispanic and Asian voters as
well as with rural residents
while Obama showed strong in the cities. Along with her husband,
former President Bill Clinton, other family members and movie
stars campaigned hard for the former first lady all across
Texas, which for the first time in 20 years played a major role
in selecting a presidential? nominee.
?
At the latest count, Mrs. Clinton’s delegate total stands at
1,391, while Obama holds 1,477.
?
From the Republican side, Senator John McCain declared his
victory in the primary after his
wins in Texas and Ohio. With these wins, McCain is now formally
the Republication presidential candidate in the November general
election.
