The
International Olympic Committee inspectors have conducted their
final inspections in Beijing. They were satisfied with the
Chinese organizers' assurance that the operations in critical
areas will run smoothly during the summer Olympics.
With the games now only four months away, the inspectors, known
as the coordination commission, have completed their final
official meeting with Beijing organizers. They said they were
assured of smooth operation which includes internet access, live
television broadcasts and contingency plans for any air
pollution problems.
Approximately 30,000 accredited and non-accredited reporters are
expected in Beijing. The Chinese?government has been told that
any internet censorship will have to be lifted for the thousands
of journalists covering the games.
IOC's medical team has also reported that Beijing's air quality
was better than expected.
The Beijing summer Olympics is?very important to China. The
Chinese people and the Chinese government definitely will make
all possible efforts to make this a successful event.
