Celebrating July 4 National Day
Today is National Day of the United States of America. Various celebrations are being held all over the country to celebrate the birth of the nation. For many immigrants, we are naturalized citizens living in a new land seeking a better life and a more rewarding future.
The United States is a melting pot of races, and except for the indigenous native American indians, we are all immigrants. But we also try to preserve our inherent languages and cultural roots.
Former Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chow has always reminded us not to forget our roots and to realize that we must always be proud to be Asian American.
Our nation has been able to become a world power for just over more
than 200 years. In fact, credit for this growth is largely due in great part to the successive arrivals immigrants for many decades. We have contributed our lifetimes and have been dedicated to the progress of the nation's growth and development for generations of many families.
Unfortunately, in recent years, the Republican and Democratic parties have been engaged in much disagreement among themselves at a time when the country is facing fierce global competition on historical levels and this discord will greatly affect the future of the country.
All of us need to make our choices very carefully to decide who is going to lead our country into the future.
