慶賀史蒂文李之生日

在德州休斯敦有越裔川普之稱的至友李史蒂文日前慶祝生日之喜,我們前往祝賀並以博愛兩字相贈,我有幸認識這位從鐵鉗工奮鬥成為地產大亨的企業家。

早在二十年前當休斯敦國際區經過德州州議會立法通過經市議會之批准成立後,他一直擔任國際區理事會理事,多年來我們都無私奉獻，全力以赴把國際區治理成為休斯敦經濟之一個模範區,尤其是新任市长惠特曼經常在各個公共塲所給予我們許多讃譽和鼓勵,我們深以為榮。

史蒂文全家十口於一九七五年從越南以難民身份在海上漂流數月後,九死一生得以到達美國,他先在餐廳洗碗到電鉗工日夜奮戰,從經營小店到地產經營,他以不怕苦而且勇於冒險之精神,數十年後他之地產遍及城中及中國城。

他是我們移民成功之典範,他對社區公益及國際區之治安美化環境及經濟繁榮作出重大貢獻。

我把國父孫中山先生所倡議之博愛二字作為他生日禮物,也為他對社會所作之貢獻表示由衷之祝福。同時,其子小史蒂文娶得嬌妻張同艷在他們家族事業中不但相夫教子更在事業中鼎力相助。張同艷曾經在美南電視擔任新聞主播,表現卓越。

In Celebration Of Stephen Le‘s Birthday

Stephen Le, a close friend, known as the "Donald Trump of the Vietnamese community in Houston,"  recently celebrated his birthday and we went to congratulate him and brought him a special gift.  I have been so grateful to know him as a person who has struggled from being a refugee to the pinnacle status today of being a real estate tycoon.

As early as 20 years ago, when the Houston International District started, Texas Representative Hubert Vo led the passage of a a bill in the Texas House which was later approved by the Houston City Council. Le has always served selflessly on the board of the International District and has always been committed to the growth of the District as a model zone in the city. Mayor Whitmire has especially given the District much praise and encouragement ever since he took office.

After drifting on the sea as a refugee from Vietnam for serval months in 1975, Stephen’s family was able to reach to America. His first job was washing dishes in a restaurant, and at the same time, he also worked hard day and night as an welder at a shipyard. From running a small shop to selling real estate, he was never afraid of hardship and was always brave to take risks. Decades later, his real estate interests spread   all over the city and all across Chinatown.

Stephen Le is a model for all of our immigrant success stories. I use the word, “fraternity,” as advocated by Yat-Sen, founding father of the Republic of China, as my birthday gift to him to express our heartfelt blessings for his years of contributions to our community. His son Stephen Jr., is married to Tiffany Zhang who once worked at our TV station as a news anchor and performed excellently.
