科技拉近了距離,卻也放大了對立;
全球化加速了流動,卻讓焦慮更快蔓延;
After the Bitter Cold — The Changes Before Our Society
The palm trees we transplanted from California now stand quietly in front of the newly built financial center.
For weeks, waves of winter cold and biting winds tested their endurance, as if determined to freeze every trace of life.
Yet they survived.
After the harsh cold passed, their leaves remained upright, their roots firmly anchored in new soil.
This scene mirrors the society we face today.
The world is visibly shifting, reorganizing, turning a new page.
Old orders are loosening, long-held values are being rewritten,
and the stability once taken for granted has become fragile and uncertain.
Technology connects us, yet amplifies division.
Globalization shortens distances, yet spreads anxiety more quickly.
Opportunities and wealth are no longer evenly obscured; instead, the lines between them grow sharper and clearer.
Amid these changes, people are not only asking where the future lies,
but also reflecting on who we are—and what is truly worth holding onto.
The palm trees endured the cold
not because the environment was kind,
but because their roots ran deep.
So it is with society.
Change itself is not the greatest danger.
The true test is whether, in times of uncertainty,
we can still hold fast to direction, values, and conscience.
As long as the roots remain steady,
no matter how the winds shift,
life and hope will find a way to stand tall again—
even on unfamiliar ground.
