Let Us Extend a Helping Hand to Nepal
Nepal has recently suffered a devastating disaster, leaving many families without homes and urgently needing food, clean drinking water, medicine, and temporary shelter. When people are suffering—even thousands of miles away—we cannot simply stand by and watch. We must respond with compassion and meaningful action.
At noon on Wednesday, we held a community meeting at the Southern News Group Financial Center. Community leaders, business representatives, religious organizations, and concerned citizens gathered to discuss how we can support the people affected by this tragedy.
Those attending the meeting agreed that disaster relief should transcend national borders, ethnicity, and religion. Whenever people are suffering, we share a responsibility to extend a helping hand.
Although Nepal is far from Houston, compassion knows no distance. A financial contribution, a shipment of essential supplies, or even sharing information about the relief effort can bring hope to families in need. We call upon every part of Houston’s diverse community to demonstrate the generosity, unity, and caring spirit for which our international city is known.
Relief efforts must be transparent, accountable, and effective. We will continue coordinating with community organizations and recognized relief agencies to identify the most urgent needs and ensure that all donations and supplies reach the people who need them most. Detailed donation instructions and further arrangements will be announced after they are confirmed.
Disasters may be merciless, but humanity is filled with compassion. By extending our hands to the people of Nepal, we are not only helping a nation recover—we are also showing the world that kindness and unity remain among humanity’s greatest strengths.
Let us pray for Nepal, bring hope to the survivors, and take action to help affected families rebuild their lives and communities.
