深圳傳奇


一座城市的傳奇，不只在於高樓有多高，更在於它讓多少平凡的人，有機會實現不平凡的夢想。

深圳，就是這樣一座城市。

從昔日的邊陲小城，走向世界矚目的現代都市，深圳的故事，是中國改革開放歷程中鮮明的一頁。來自四面八方的人們，帶著行囊、技術與希望，在這片土地上尋找機會，也用自己的青春改變了城市的面貌。

深圳最令人感動的，是那股敢於出發的精神。沒有現成的路，就試著闖出一條路；面對失敗，仍願意重新開始。工廠裡的燈光、創業者桌上的圖紙、工程師一次又一次的測試，都是這座城市向前邁進的力量。

對於長年在美國創業的我而言，這樣的精神並不陌生。當年我們遠渡重洋，在陌生的環境中建立事業，靠的也是勤奮、信用，以及不願輕易放棄的信念。地域不同，語言不同，人們希望改善生活、為下一代創造機會的心，卻是相通的。

深圳也讓我思考，中美工商界可以如何把各自的長處，化為實際的合作。從產品設計到製造，從技術交流到市場服務，每一項合作，都需要了解彼此的需求，更需要耐心建立信任。真正長久的橋樑，往往就從一次坦誠的見面、一件認真完成的小事開始。

當然，一座城市的成功，不能只用產值與樓價衡量。年輕人能否找到立足之地，創業者能否得到公平的機會，辛勤工作的人能否安心生活，才是繁華能否延續的根本。

深圳的傳奇，寫在城市的天際線上，也寫在無數普通人的人生裡。

The Shenzhen Story

A city’s greatness is measured not simply by the height of its buildings, but by how many ordinary people it gives the chance to pursue extraordinary dreams.

Shenzhen is such a city.

Its transformation from a quiet border town into a modern metropolis is a remarkable chapter in China’s reform and opening to the world. People arrived from across the country carrying luggage, skills, and hope. They came seeking opportunity, and through their hard work, they helped reshape the city itself.

What moves me most about Shenzhen is its willingness to venture into the unknown. When no clear path exists, people try to create one. When an effort fails, they begin again. The lights inside factories, the drawings on an entrepreneur’s desk, and an engineer’s repeated tests all tell the story of a city built through persistence.

As someone who has spent decades building businesses in America, I recognize that spirit. Those of us who crossed the ocean to start a new life also depended on hard work, credibility, and the determination to keep going. Our surroundings and languages may differ, but our desire to improve our lives and create opportunities for the next generation is much the same.

Shenzhen also invites us to consider how American and Chinese businesses can turn their respective strengths into practical cooperation. From product design and manufacturing to technical exchange and customer service, lasting partnerships require an understanding of each other’s needs—and the patience to build trust. Often, a meaningful bridge begins with an honest conversation and a small commitment faithfully fulfilled.

Of course, a city’s success cannot be measured by economic output and property values alone. Can young people find a place to begin? Do entrepreneurs have a fair chance? Can working families build secure lives? These questions will determine whether prosperity can endure.

Shenzhen’s story is written across its skyline, but also in the lives of countless ordinary people.

May this city always retain the courage of its beginnings—and always remember the people whose hands built it. Giving people hope and a reason to stay and build their future is among the greatest achievements any city can claim.
