為休斯敦市長特納送行

即將於年底任滿八年的休斯敦市長特納， 將於七月參加我們為他舉辦的歡送會， 表達我們對他在過去两任八年所做之貢獻。

休斯敦已成為全美第四大城， 是佔地面稹最大的城市， 也是全美族裔最多之大城， 其中除了白人、非裔、拉丁裔及華亞裔之外， 近年來成為外來人口增加最多之城市。

這位非裔畢業於哈佛之市長曾經在德州州議員參政多年， 八年前當他就任之初 ，就和華亞裔關係融洽。 就在年前， 一座佔地數十畝之艾利芙社區中心大廈剛剛啟用， 這座現代化建築由市政府斥資五千八百萬興建而成， 是他任內對我們國際區最大最佳之禮物， 每年由我們主辦之農暦新年游園會他從未缺席。

特納市長是全部美非裔𠍇出政治領袖， 他未來如何繼續政治生涯， 尚未明朗 ，不過拜登總統之民主黨定會重用他的長才。

雖然他即將離職 ，但是我們和他的情誼將是永遠的挈友 ，我們也籍此表示感激和怀念之情。

Sending Off Houston's Mayor Turner 

Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner will be leaving office at the end of this year. We are hosting a farewell party in my house to express our sincere  appreciation for his service. 

Houston is the fourth largest city in the United States and the largest city with the most ethnic minorities in the United States. Also, Houston is the city with the most rapidly increasing population in the nation. 

The African-American mayor was a Harvard graduate who served in the Texas state legislature for many years. Ever since he took over the mayoral position he had a very good relationship with the Asian community. Just a few month ago the very modern Alief Community Center opened up in the International District at the intersection of Kirkwood and Bellaire Blvd. The center was built by the City of Houston and cost more than $58 million dollars which was money spent especially in our district. 

We can remember that Mayor Turner was never absent at our annual Lunar celebrations and that showed us his sincere support for our community. Although he is about to leave his post, our friendship with him will last forever.
