狄森牧師我們謝謝您

休斯敦非裔組合組織及縣體育會主席狄森牧師， 去年經好弟兄國會議員格林之介紹下相識 。這位非裔政治及宗教領袖正在和我們推動一項種群合作陣線， 在為我們未來之社會勾劃新的藍圖。

當我走进狄森牧師手創的大教堂， 真令我感到震撼。 這座可容納三千人之大教堂， 配上最現代化之音響頻幕， 巨大的舞台 ，高桃近五十呎之天花板， 給人有無比莊嚴高雅之氣派。 狄森牧師低聲的告訴我說：“ 李弟兄， 我老實說， 如果我沒華裔弟兄之拔刀相助， 我決不會有今天的塲面， 我常想到數十年前的往事 ………” 他說，“當我二十多歲要初創教堂時身無分文， 當時就相中這塊市值二十多萬之土地， 所有人是位陳姓華人。 當我告訴他我身上沒有錢， 但想創建教會， 陳先生二話不說， 立即把他拉到舊中國城之華人亞美銀行， 求見關董事長後，以個人担保名譽給他購得土地。” 

三十年來， 他從一塊小土地拓展到數十英畝之教會及文化住宅社區， 並且為大休斯敦地區帶來了巨大的精神支柱及社區福利。”

我們互視著彼此之眼神， 他對華人之友善是他願對亞裔伸出援手之動力， 在他的稹極參予下， 我們的「多元種族文化聯合陣線」即將正式宣佈， 同時在美南傳媒暨電視台推出『狄森見面會』社區專訪電視節目， 我們正式開啟美國亞裔拉丁裔非裔及主流社會之橋樑。

多少年了， 我們把這塊土地視為家園。 在這裡生存成長， 唯有大家和協相處，才會帶來幸福和安康，今天他再次走進了我們為特透市長舉辦的感恩晚會， 給我們極大之鼓勵，狄森牧師， 我們謝謝您。

Bishop Dixon We Thank You

Bishop James Dixon, Chairman of Harris County Sports Authority and President of NCAA, came to our party for Mayor Turner. He was introduced by me to our dear friend Congressman Al Green. He is the political and religious leader who has worked with our community in an effort try to draw up a new blueprint for our future society. 

When I first came to visit his church, I was so amazed with the modern high ceiling and the huge stage. While there, he whispered to me and said, "Brother Lee, if I did not have the help of my Chinese friend, Alfred Chin, I would have never come this far. Because of his help, I am able to expand our church today and it has brought great spiritual awakening and community service to the greater Houston area."                                  

We looked straight at each other. 

It is clear that his friendliness to Chinese people is the driving force and reason that he is so willing to lend a helping hand to the Asian people.

With his and Congressman Al Green’s extreme  participation, our Multicultural Advocacy Coalition is about to be officially announced. 

At the same time, the “Dixon Talk Show" will be launched on our 

TV station to talk about all our community issues and our bright future ahead. 

We highly recognize this land as our home to survive and grown. Only if everyone works together can we bring happiness and well-being to all. Bishop Dixon we thank you.
