HEROES Act Passes In Congress

Congress yesterday passed H.R. 6800, the Health and Economic Recovery Omnibus Emergency Solution (HEROES) Act. This is the fifth tranche of coronavirus relief which will help to defeat the coronavirus in the United States by providing funding for state, local and tribal governments as well as for essential workers, small business, food, security and housing assistance.

This bill will now be sent to the Senate, but the Republican-controlled Senate will not grant approval immediately.

We strongly urge the Senate to act on this bill as soon as possible, mainly because we need to help more than thirty million people now out of a job. Local governments have also been hard hit by this national emergency. The suffering has also caused a dramatic decrease in sales tax revenue.

We are now witnessing long lines waiting to get tested for the coronavirus as well as long food lines. The HEROES Act also contains provisions for testing and tracing as well as for food assistance.

We are also facing the worst economic downturn in modern history. We need to lend a hand to our neighbors and our friends and try to donate whatever we can to the Food Bank.

As Congressman Al Green has said, we must continue to work across the political aisle and in both chambers of Congress until we have stopped the spread of COVID-19, decreased fatalities, flattened the curve and restored our economy.

   眾院通過有史以來最大纾困法案

眾議院昨晚以代理人投票方式表決通過了第六千八百號提案，將全面啟動對地方及州政府失業救濟、小企業貸款、食物補助、房租津貼、病毒檢驗、前缐醫療人員及發放現金支票等。

法案送到由共和黨掌控之參議院，將會遭到留滯。不過一般認為，兩黨會在共同協商之後在近期內通過由總統簽署後生效。

我們也在此大力呼籲國會山莊之議員，應火速通過此案來拯救已經失業的三千多萬同胞及面臨破產的地方政府，我們看到領取食物的車隊越來越長，等待檢測的國民心急如焚，失業救濟金辦公室電腦当机，如此強大的美利堅共和國竟然淪落至此。

就如好友國會議員格林今天再度呼籲要國會兩黨摒棄私見，共同抵抗冠狀病毒，減少傷亡，重整我們的经济。
