休斯敦市長選戰打開序幕

二百多萬居住在大休斯敦地區之選民, 將從十月二十三日起舉行初選投票 。市民們可以在十一月七日大選日之前先行投下自己神聖之一票 ， 來決定誰將领導這個全美第四大城市。

近二十年來 ，原本是從以世界能源之都稱著的城市有了巨大之變化，整個城市不再只是依賴石油而改變多元化之工商業，並有大量移民移居於此。

美南新聞是成長在這𠆤城市而且見證了它的成長 ,我們的命運也緊繫著這塊土地 ,和這片天空共同呼吸。因此把我們大家的青春奉獻給這個城市， 這裡更是我們的家園。

這次市長選舉參加人數之多非常罕見，其中包括各族裔代表，有白人、非裔、拉丁裔、亞裔 ，他們都希望將來領導這𠆤多元化之城市。

市政問題是非常複雜而多元化 ，從警政消防、 治安 、基建教育文化 、觀光交通住房商業等都是市長要推動管理之事項。

我們期盼能夠選出一位有魄力遠見之領導 ，才是我們大家之福氣。

就在本週六下午二時 ，州參議員惠特邁將再度來到美南電視台會見國際社區之代表們， 再次表達他競選成功之決心。

   Houston's Mayoral Election Kicks Off Soon

More than two million qualified voters living in Greater Houston will hold an early voting on October 23. We can cast our votes before Election Day on Nov. 7th to decide who will lead the fourth largest city in America. 

Over the last twenty years there have been great changes from the city known as, "The Energy Capital Of The World." The city no longer just relies on energy and now includes many diversified industries with commerce from a wide range of business sectors and includes a large workforce of immigrants who have migrated here. 

Southern News Group grew up in this great city and witnessed its growth. Our fate also is closely linked to this land and sky. We have devoted our lives to this city and this is our home. 

Municipal issues of the city are very complex and diversified. From the police, firefighters, public safety, infrastructure, education, culture, tourism, transportation, housing and commerce, etc., are all matters that a new mayor will need to promote and manage. 

We are looking forward to electing a bold and far-sighted leader which will be a blessing to all of us. 

At 2:00 pm this Saturday, State Senator John Whitmire will come to the STV television studio again to meet with representatives of the international community, and once again will express his determination to be a good, strong and effective mayor for the City of Houston.
