Is the U.S. About to Go to War with Venezuela?

Lately, the waters near Venezuela look less like the Caribbean and more like a staging ground. U.S. warships and aircraft crowd the area, all under the banner of “anti-drug operations” and “counter-terrorism.” In reality, repeated airstrikes have already sent boats linked to Venezuela to the bottom of the sea, with casualties quietly rising.

The White House insists the targets are “cartels,” not the Venezuelan state. On paper, this isn’t called a “war,” just “operations” and “strikes.” But for ordinary people, the labels don’t matter. Fighter jets overhead, rerouted flights, disrupted trade and growing shortages all feel like a slow war creeping closer.

So, is the U.S. about to go to war with Venezuela?

Formally, not yet. In substance, the shadow of war is already spreading over the waters around Venezuela and into daily life. The first official shot may come later—but the logic of war is already in motio
