我曾經窮到口袋裡只剩幾塊錢;

它裡面藏著我半生的青春;
藏著無數不眠的夜晚;

感恩這一路上所有幫助過我的人;
感恩那些在我最困難時仍然相信我的朋友;

Today, I finally received the Occupancy Permit for the Southern Global One Bank Financial Center Tower.

When I held that document in my hands, I stood there silently for a long time.
What appeared before my eyes was not just a completed building — it was the reflection of my entire life journey.

A journey filled with struggle, sacrifice, loneliness, and hope.

Many years ago, I came to America as an immigrant with very little.
No powerful background.
No wealth.
No guarantee of success.

Only a stubborn belief deep in my heart that somehow, someday, life could become better.

Like many immigrants, I experienced hardship that few people ever saw.
There were days when my pockets were nearly empty.
There were nights when I carried all the pressure alone, quietly pretending to be strong because I could not afford to fall apart.

But even during the darkest moments, I never stopped dreaming.

Years later, I founded the Southern Chinese Daily News and later built Southern News Group because I wanted immigrants like us to have a voice — a place where our stories, struggles, and dreams mattered.

Then came Global One Bank, created with the hope of helping small businesses, immigrant families, and hardworking people find opportunities that were often difficult to reach.

And today, all of those dreams stand together inside this tower.

But only I truly know how painful this journey has been.

There were countless nights when I stood alone inside the unfinished construction site.
Surrounded by steel beams, concrete, silence, and uncertainty, I often asked myself:

“Can I really keep going?”
“Will this dream ever become reality?”

There were moments when the pressure felt unbearable.
Construction delays.
Financial burdens.
The pandemic.
Doubts from others.
Sleepless nights that seemed endless.

Some people believed this project was too ambitious.
Some quietly waited for us to fail.

But I refused to give up.

Because deep in my heart, I knew this building was never only about me.

It represents the immigrant dream.

It represents every person who arrived in America carrying nothing but hope.
Every family that sacrificed comfort for a better future.
Every small business owner who worked endless hours just to survive.
Every individual who was underestimated but continued moving forward anyway.

Tonight, as the lights of the tower shine across the Houston skyline, I cannot hold back my emotions.

I think about my parents.
I think about the people who walked beside me during this journey but are no longer here to witness this moment.
I think about all the years of struggle, sacrifice, and perseverance that brought us here today.

This building is not made only of steel and glass.

It is built from tears.
From sleepless nights.
From courage.
From faith.
From an immigrant’s lifetime of determination.

Today, the emotion I feel most deeply is not pride — it is gratitude.

Gratitude for everyone who believed in me when times were difficult.
Gratitude for every friend, supporter, colleague, contractor, banker, and family member who helped carry this dream forward.
Gratitude to America, the land that gave an ordinary immigrant the opportunity to build something extraordinary.

Tonight, as I quietly stand before this tower, I realize this is no longer simply my building.

It is a symbol of perseverance.
A monument to the immigrant spirit.
And a message to future generations that no dream is impossible if you are willing to dedicate your life to it.

“Life may be filled with storms,
but as long as the light inside your heart never fades,
one day your dream will illuminate the entire sky.”
