This evening I had the honor of dining with Texas Commissioner of Agriculture, Mr. Sid Miller, at the Blue Sky Seafood Restaurant in Bay City.

As the late summer sun painted the Texas horizon with hues of crimson and gold, the evening unfolded with warmth and anticipation. The restaurant, renowned for its fresh and abundant dishes, was alive with bright lights and lively chatter, while outside, twilight quietly settled over the city.

Commissioner Miller entered with the trademark ease and generosity of a true Texan. We sat across the table, where an array of delicacies awaited us: tender crab, and steaming seafood soup that carried with it the essence of the ocean.

Between toasts and laughter, our conversation turned to the future of Texas agriculture and forestry, and the possibilities of collaboration ahead. The Commissioner spoke with sincerity—sometimes hearty with laughter, other times with thoughtfulness in silence. I could feel beneath the cordiality a vision waiting to be realized, a partnership ready to bloom.

What excites me most is that the International Trade Center will be joining hands with the Texas Department of Agriculture to bring Texas’ finest products to the global stage. From crops nurtured in the state's fertile soil, to goods that carry the pride of Texas heritage, these treasures will soon cross oceans, reaching markets and dining tables around the world. It is not only an economic opportunity, but also a testament to the Texas spirit speaking out to the world.
