右翼媒體發表令人髮指之反華裔言論 仇恨不能成為政治工具　華裔美國人更應團結發聲

近日，部分右翼媒體針對華裔及亞裔社區所發表的言論，引起社會廣泛關注。當政治立場的分歧逐漸演變成對特定族群的攻擊，甚至以族裔背景來質疑一個人的忠誠、能力與美國人的身分，這已不只是一般的政治辯論，而是對美國多元社會價值的一項嚴峻考驗。

美國是一個由移民共同建立的國家。從早期修築鐵路的華工，到今天在科技、醫療、教育、金融、商業、軍隊及公共服務領域工作的華裔美國人，無數家庭用一代又一代的努力，證明自己不僅是美國社會的一部分，更是這個國家進步與繁榮的重要力量。

華裔美國人與其他族裔一樣，依法納稅、經營企業、服務社區、教育下一代，也有人在軍中服役、在政府工作、在醫院救人、在學校教書。任何人都不應因為姓氏、膚色、出生地或祖先來自哪一個國家，而被視為「不夠美國」。

言論自由是美國民主制度的重要基石，但言論自由並不代表公共人物或媒體可以不負責任地利用族群偏見製造恐懼。媒體擁有巨大的影響力，因此更應該以事實、證據和理性作為報導與評論的基礎，而不是以情緒化、污名化甚至仇恨性的語言，把一個族群當作政治攻擊的工具。

我們必須清楚區分兩件事：對任何國家政府政策的批評，都是民主社會正常而且必要的討論；但是，把對一個政府的批評延伸成對某一族裔人民的懷疑、敵視或歧視，則完全是另一回事。

華裔美國人不是任何外國政府的代表。華裔美國人首先是生活在這片土地上的父母、子女、企業家、學生、專業人士、工人及社區居民。我們關心的是家庭是否安全、孩子是否得到良好教育、社區是否繁榮，以及下一代能否在一個公平的社會中實現夢想。

歷史一再提醒我們，當一個社會開始把經濟困難、國際衝突或政治問題歸罪於某一族群時，最終受到傷害的不只是那個族群，而是整個民主制度。

因此，面對任何反華、反亞裔或其他形式的種族歧視言論，我們不能保持沉默。

我們應該以和平、理性和民主的方式發聲；我們應該鼓勵更多華裔參與選舉、公共政策、教育、媒體及社區服務；我們更應該與非裔、拉丁裔、白人、亞裔以及所有相信平等與民主價值的美國人站在一起。

這不是任何一個族群單獨的問題，而是所有美國人的問題。

我們反對仇恨，也反對以仇恨回應仇恨。我們要求的是尊重，是公平，是每一位美國公民都應享有的平等權利。

今天的美國比任何時候都更需要團結，而不是分裂；需要事實，而不是煽動；需要彼此了解，而不是互相懷疑。

華裔美國人不需要向任何人證明自己是否「屬於美國」。

我們就是美國的一部分。

我們在這裡生活，在這裡工作，在這裡建立家庭，在這裡追求夢想，也在這裡共同建設國家的未來。

當仇恨的聲音出現時，我們更要用團結回應分裂，用事實回應偏見，用民主參與回應歧視。

**我們是美國人。

我們屬於這個國家。
我們為這個國家作出貢獻。
我們不會沉默。**

Right-Wing Media Publishes Outrageous Anti-Chinese American Remarks

Hate Must Not Become a Political Weapon — Chinese Americans Must Stand Together and Speak Out

Recent remarks by some right-wing media targeting Chinese American and Asian American communities have raised serious concern. When political disagreement turns into attacks on an entire ethnic group, or when a person’s loyalty, ability, or identity as an American is questioned simply because of ethnicity or ancestry, the issue goes far beyond ordinary political debate. It becomes a serious test of America’s commitment to equality and diversity.

America is a nation built by immigrants. From the Chinese laborers who helped build the transcontinental railroad to today’s Chinese Americans working in technology, medicine, education, finance, business, the military, and public service, generations of families have demonstrated through hard work and sacrifice that they are not only part of American society, but also important contributors to the nation’s progress and prosperity.

Chinese Americans, like Americans of every background, pay taxes, build businesses, serve their communities, educate their children, and contribute to the nation. Some serve in the armed forces, some work in government, some save lives in hospitals, and others teach the next generation. No American should ever be treated as less American because of a surname, skin color, birthplace, or ancestral homeland.

Freedom of speech is a cornerstone of American democracy. But freedom of speech should not be used as an excuse for public figures or media organizations to irresponsibly exploit racial prejudice or create fear. Because the media has enormous influence, reporting and commentary should be based on facts, evidence, and responsible debate—not on inflammatory language, ethnic stereotyping, or hatred.

We must also make an important distinction. Criticism of the policies of any foreign government is legitimate and necessary in a democratic society. But turning criticism of a government into suspicion, hostility, or discrimination against an entire ethnic community is something entirely different.

Chinese Americans are not representatives of any foreign government. They are parents, children, business owners, students, professionals, workers, veterans, and community leaders living in America. They care about the same issues as other Americans: safe neighborhoods, good schools, economic opportunity, strong families, and a fair chance for the next generation to succeed.

History has repeatedly shown us that when a society begins blaming an ethnic or racial group for economic problems, international tensions, or political conflict, the damage eventually extends far beyond that community. It weakens the principles of democracy itself.

For that reason, we cannot remain silent when we encounter anti-Chinese, anti-Asian, or any other form of racial discrimination.

We should speak out peacefully, rationally, and through democratic participation. We should encourage more Chinese Americans to vote, participate in public affairs, serve in government, engage in education and media, and contribute to community leadership. We should also stand together with African Americans, Latinos, Whites, other Asian Americans, and all Americans who believe in equality, justice, and democracy.

This is not only a Chinese American issue. It is an American issue.

We reject hatred, but we also reject responding to hatred with more hatred. What we seek is respect, fairness, and the equal rights promised to every American.

America today needs unity more than division, facts more than incitement, and understanding more than suspicion.

Chinese Americans should not have to prove that they belong in America.

We are already part of America.

We live here. We work here. We raise our families here. We pursue our dreams here. And we are helping to build this nation’s future.

When voices of hatred appear, we must answer division with unity, prejudice with facts, and discrimination with democratic participation.

**We are Americans.

We belong here.
We contribute to this country.
We will not be silenced.**
