It Is Time for the Chinese American Community to Unite
Today, the Chinese American community stands at an important moment in history.
In the face of discrimination, prejudice, and hateful rhetoric, we can no longer remain silent. When confronting common challenges, we cannot allow ourselves to remain divided. Whether we come from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Southeast Asia, or elsewhere, we share a responsibility to defend the dignity of Chinese Americans and protect the future of the next generation.
Unity does not mean that we must agree on everything. It means standing together when our fundamental rights and shared interests are at stake. When any Chinese American faces injustice, our entire community should speak out. When our young people need greater opportunities in education, employment, leadership, and public service, we must help open the doors for them.
We must encourage more Chinese Americans to register to vote, participate in civic affairs, serve their communities, and become part of America’s decision-making process. At the same time, we should work closely with people of every background—replacing misunderstanding with dialogue and building trust through friendship and cooperation.
Chinese Americans have made significant contributions to the growth and prosperity of the United States. We work hard, value education, care for our families, and serve our communities. Now, we must transform individual achievement into collective strength and ensure that our voices are heard in city halls, state governments, and the United States Congress.
Now is the time for Chinese Americans to unite.
Let us put aside our differences, join our strength, and speak with courage. Only through unity can we earn the respect we deserve. Only through participation can we truly shape our future.
Unity is not merely a choice—it is our shared responsibility.
