國務卿談中美:兩大國必須保持交往


美國國務卿盧比奧9月23日在紐約表示,中美是全球最大的兩個經濟體,兩國關係將影響二十一世紀的走向。即使雙方存在重大分歧,拒絕高層交往仍是不負責任的做法。(reutersconnect.com⁠)

這番話提醒我們,國際政治越是複雜,溝通就越有必要。交往並不代表放棄原則,對話也不表示分歧已經消失;唯有保持接觸,才能釐清彼此底線,降低誤判,為解決問題留下空間。

中美關係牽動的,不只是外交與軍事,更是企業的訂單、農民的收成、學生的前途,以及千千萬萬家庭的生活。人民所期待的,是可以安心工作、求學與規劃未來的環境。

身在休斯敦這座國際城市,我們尤其珍惜商貿與民間交流的價值。從農產品貿易到教育合作,每一次真誠接觸,都有機會累積互信,讓兩國人民看見彼此共同的願望。

兩個大國不可能在所有問題上取得一致,但應有智慧管理分歧,也應有勇氣承擔維護和平的責任。讓對話持續,讓合作落實,才是對人民與下一代最負責任的選擇。



Speaking in New York on September 23, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the relationship between the world’s two largest economies would help define the twenty-first century. His remarks offer a timely reminder: the more complicated international relations become, the more essential communication is. Engagement does not mean abandoning principles, and dialogue does not erase differences. Keeping channels open allows both countries to clarify their positions, reduce miscalculation, and create room for solutions.

U.S.–China relations reach far beyond diplomacy and military affairs. They affect business orders, farmers’ livelihoods, students’ futures, and millions of families. Ordinary people want the stability to work, study, and plan their lives with confidence.

Here in Houston, an international city, we understand the value of trade and personal connections. From agricultural commerce to educational cooperation, meaningful exchanges can build trust and reveal the hopes that people in both countries share.

Two great powers will never agree on every issue. But they must have the wisdom to manage their differences and the courage to accept their responsibility for peace. Sustained dialogue and practical cooperation are essential commitments to their people—and to the next generation.
