財長耶倫訪華

拜登總統就任以來首位訪問北京之財長耶倫昨午抵達北京，企盼為中美兩國䧟於僵局之關係改善尋求答案。 但是一般認為， 許多基本問題無法解決， 其訪問之成果可能有限。

耶倫是少數內閣高官支持加强對中國经濟關係的財經掌門人， 她警告如果中美脫鈎， 將是災難性的。 她此行之目的試圖缓雙方不斷加劇之不信任關係。 拜登政府目前還在準備包括晶片及美國在中國投資的進一步新限制， 她批評川普之加稅措施實際上是增加了美國消費者之負擔 。由戴琪主持之貿易代表署確持反對意見， 因此這項取消税收目前是無法實現。

中國目前持有近一萬億之美國公債 ，是美國第三贸易伙伴 ，兩國密切之經贸關係真能脫鈎嗎？

世界當前面臨之挑戰， 多如牛毛。 我們必須承認中國在各方面之繼續壯大是無法阻擋的事實 ，雖然大多數美國人及國會諸公對此表示極大之擔擾， 但是我們必須尋求共処之道 。

我們相信中美領導人一定有智慧來面對危機， 否則世界將永無寧日。

Treasury Secretary Yellen Is In China

Treasury Secretary Yellen is the first U.S. Treasury Secretary to arrive in China hoping to find China open to discussions on her first trip there since Biden became president. She is hoping to find answers for improvement in the deadlocked relationship between the United States and China, but it is generally believed that many basic problems cannot be solved. So the result of her visit may be limited. 

Yellen is one of a few senior officials who have supported a strong economic relationship with China. She has warned that it would be disastrous if China and the United States ceased working together. Her trip also will try to ease the growing distrust between the two countries. 

The Biden Administration is still preparing further restrictions on chips as well as more American investing in China. 

China currently holds nearly one trillion dollars in U.S.bonds and is the third largest trading partner with the United States. 

Today the world is facing many major challenges. We must admit that China’s continued growth in all areas is unstoppable. Although many people as well as the U.S. Congress have deep concerns about this, we must find ways to deal with our differences and move forward. 

We believe that the leaders of the two countries have the wisdom to deal with this lasting crisis. Otherwise, the world will never have peace.
