Greater Houston’s Population Continues To Surge

As the population of many U.S. metropolitan areas continues to move south, Greater Houston's population                                                                                                                 has grown to 7.5 million. Between 2022 and 2023 alone, Greater Houston's population increased by 140,000.

According to the latest statistics from the Chamber of Commerce, the population growth of the Houston

and Dallas areas is leading the nation. This includes residents from other areas and international immigrants,

including many skilled workers seeking employment. Of course, this also includes many foreigners illegally

crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

Latest statistics show that while many people work in the city, most prefer to live in the suburbs. Especially in

the greater Houston area, the jobs that were lost during the pandemic have not only fully recovered, but have

grown by 150%. By contrast, Chicago and the San Francisco metropolitan areas have not yet returned to

pre-pandemic employment levels.

Today, Texas stands out as one of the few large states in the United States that has a surplus of government

finance every year. It also has a pillar of industries such as energy, space, and medical care which have laid

a very solid foundation for future growth and development in the state.
