賀李金龍舞獅團成立50週年

七十年代初我們駕車從舊金山川過加州、阿利桑那州及新墨西哥州之大沙漠直奔德州休斯敦,在舊金山李氏宗長之引介下來到位於北邊的李家莊拜見了李氏宗親會創會會長李宗濂宗長，他不但招待午餐，並且熱心的介紹李氏在德州之情況。當時走來了一位年青人臉上堆滿笑容,李宗長介紹說,這是我們的小𠒇子李衞民，他在唸醫學院,我還有一個大𠒇子他目前在史坦福大學攻讀法律,這番談話讓我十分佩服,李老先生是多麼驕傲自已李家出了醫生和律師。

多年來，李衞民兄不但行醫有成並成立了李金龍舞獅團在全美各地表演,舉著發揚和推廣華裔文化之大旗，在長達半世紀之日子中踏過許多城市表演舞龍舞獅,這股精神令人敬佩。

今晚在休斯敦我和妻共同參加了李金龍舞獅團五十週年慶,來自全美及各國之嘉賓聚集近千人之晚宴五彩繽紛之舞獅舞龍表演由休斯敦三大電視台之華亞裔新聞主播分別在台上主持。

市長及許多政要皆分別發表祝詞，表揚李金龍舞獅團對社區之貢獻。我們要在此特別表達衞民兄對於中華文化之執著精神. 我們常稱在美國出生的華人是香蕉,他們看似黃皮膚但內在確是西方人之性格.

半世紀是個漫長之旅程,李氏舞獅團過去五十年來帶領了無數年青人在全美各地不斷揮舞出華夏文化之風采,是我們在海外之文化堡壘，向他們致敬！

Congratulations On The 50th Anniversary Of Lee’s Golden Dragon Lion and Dragon Dance Association

In the early 1970s, we drove  from San Francisco across the deserts of California, Arizona and New Mexico to Houston, Texas. With the introduction of the San Francisco Lee’s elders, we went to Lee’s Inn Restaurant on the North Freeway and met Uncle Jimmy Lee, the founder of Texas Lee‘s Association. He not only entertained us with lunch, but he also introduced us to his son, Dr. Allen Lee, and another son who was studying at Stanford University. How proud he was to have sons who were both a doctor and a lawyer.

Over the year, Allen has not only achieved a thriving medical practice, but he has also set up    the Lion and Dragon group to perform all over the nation. Tonight, my wife and I were very proud to attend the fifty-year anniversary celebration along with more than 1,000 guests from all across the nation as  well as from other countries.

Over the last half-century, Allen has led countless young people to continuously share the styles  of the Chinese culture all over the United States. We are so proud of his accomplishment.
