我們向市長致敬

隨著蛇年春節之到來,美南新聞依例舉辦德州農暦新年遊園大會,這已經是我們第二十九屆舉辦這項活動。今年比較特別的是籍此大會邀請了一百多個國際社區之領袖及宗教、文化、教育界人士共同慶祝休斯敦市長惠特曼就職週年並向他表示致敬。

蛇年是我們社區及全國甚至全球將帶來重大變化之一年,首先我們要向昨天在華盛頓波多馬河和軍機相撞之美航傷亡乘客表示由衷之哀悼。

惠特曼市長就任一年多來,他首要任務是在整頓治安,對於市政交通之改善及簡化建築執照,同時開始興建另一座會展中心增強觀光經濟繁榮,將有重大之影響，市長對於華亞裔社區之發展和治安也特別關心,他對國際區在本市所扮演之角色也經常在各種埸所給予讃揚和鼓勵。

值此新春佳節,我們特向大家致候,並希望共同努力和團結以報團取暖之方式相互支持和愛護。

We Pay Tribute To The Mayor

With the arrival of the Spring Festival of the Year of the Snake, Southern News Group held the Texas Lunar New Year Festival as usual, as we celebrated our 29th anniversary of this great event.

This year we invited more than 100 international, community, religious, cultural and education leaders to come together to celebrate the inauguration anniversary of Houston's Mayor John Whitmire.

The Year of the Snake will be a year that brings about major changes in our community, and especially in the whole world.

Mayor Whitmire has been in office for more than one year. His primary tasks are to strengthen the pubic safety, improve the city‘s infrastructure and expedite of all kinds of city permits. At the same time, the city already has started to build another convention center to enhance the prosperity of the tourism economy. The Mayor also is very concerned about the development and security of our community. He 

has often openly praised the International District on numerous occasions.

On the occasion of this Spring Festival, we would like to ask everyone to work together and unite to support and live with each other in peace and harmony.
