李蔚華1969年畢業於台灣國立政治大學外交系。 1971年赴美留學，1974年獲得克薩斯州州立大學政治學碩士學位。 1979年在休斯敦創辦《美國新聞》週報，1984年改為日報。經過十餘年的努力經營，現已發展成為包括《美國新聞》、《華盛頓新聞》、《芝加哥時報》、《亞特蘭大新聞》、《達拉斯時報》、《波士頓新聞》及英文《美亞新聞》和美南華語電視公司在內的美南報業傳播機構，任董事長。 1984年榮獲全美傑出青年獎。曾被休斯敦市長任命為該市公共電視委員會委員，並被推選為休斯敦中華總商會主席。 1992年入選《美國企業家名人錄》。
