老友休斯敦大商會會長摩斯禮來訪

德州工商界及政界聞人摩斯禮日昨來到美南電視台探望我們，我和前密蘇里市議員阮丹尼以午餐招待這位享譽全美之領䄂 。

我們回憶多年來他對亞非裔社區之關懷， 在他十多年休斯敦大商會會長任期內几乎走遍了亞洲各國 ，包括中國大陸、 台灣 、越南、 日韓等國同時促成了長榮、 國航到休斯敦之直航， 最令人感動的是他從安徽 、四川領養了兩位女孤嬰， 如今已経三十歲並且把她們養育成為律師及專業人士， 他在言談中對自己一手撫養長大之女兒感到無比之自豪， 不時露出非常滿意之微笑。

多年前，我們和萊斯大學舉辦之徳非商貿高峯會也曾得到他的傾力相助。

摩斯禮目前已経從公職退休， 但是他仍然做義工為社區盡力， 尤其特別關心華亞裔之處境， 對於目前國內外之情勢也非常擔憂。

回憶往事展望未來， 摩斯禮會長堪稱華亞裔之友， 當他離去時， 我緊握住他的手， 希望他身體健康，事事如意並希望下次他能和一對華裔女兒见面，給我們一睹風采。

Our Old Friend Jeff Moseley

Jeff Moseley has four decades of service to both the public and private sectors with his experience particularly related to the areas of transportation and economic development.

Yesterday afternoon, Jeff came to our office to meet with old friends, including former Missouri City councilman Danny Nguyen.

We recalled his continuing and tireless care for our Asian community when he was president of the Greater Houston Partnership. He has traveled all over the Asian countries, including China, Taiwan, Vietnam, Korea and Japan. He was the one who promoted the direct flights from Beijing and Taipei to Houston.

The most touching thing is that Jeff and his wife adopted two infant girls from China. The babies are now 30 years old and were raised to become a lawyer and a professional. Jeff is extremely proud of raising these two Chinese girls. Whenever we talk about it, he always has a big smile.

Many years ago when we co-sponsored the Texas African Summit at Rice University, Jeff gave us his tireless help with producing the event.

Jeff is now retired, but he is still very concerned about our community and also worries about today’s world situation.

I was holding his hand when he left our office. He has been a really true friend of the Asian community for many years.

We all hope he will have a happy and healthy life. We told him to bring his two daughters over to visit and we will treat them to good Asian food.
