三十年後的回聲:看見校長的臉書

Time has slipped quietly away—thirty years gone by in a blink, like yesterday lingering in memory.
Back then, I began this journey with a young and earnest heart. Though lacking experience, I believed that if I walked with integrity and purpose, I could sow seeds of change on this land.
Thirty years have passed. My hair is silvered now, but I am still here, holding fast to that original vow. To still serve—is a blessing, and a calling.
Last Thursday, through the kind introduction of my dear friend Brother Zheng Tong, Dr. Michael Webster, President of Houston Community College, visited the Southern News Group headquarters. His visit was not merely ceremonial—it felt like a conversation across time, he affirmed our work in community education, cultural outreach, and civic involvement, and expressed his hope for deeper collaboration in multicultural programs and youth development.
His words felt like a letter sent across three decades, quietly whispering, “I see you.”
In that moment, memories flooded back—those long days of walking the neighborhoods, organizing festivals and seminars, listening to residents, facing storms together. Moments once thought small, now seen, remembered, and cherished.
To be remembered after thirty years, and to still carry the trust of service, is not just a personal honor—it’s the shared light of all who have toiled quietly and faithfully.
I have always believed that true success lies not in applause or titles, but in whether we’ve ever lit a lamp in some quiet corner, and brought hope to those who needed it.
The road ahead is still long, but I will keep walking. This land has taught me what responsibility means, what perseverance requires, and what it means to promise: “never step away.”
Thirty years later, I am still here—not lingering, but keeping watch. Guarding a feeling, a light, a dream. And with all fellow travelers, I will continue building a warmer, brighter tomorrow.
