FBI Raids John Bolton’s Home
On the morning of August 22, 2025, FBI agents executed a court-authorized search of former National Security Adviser John Bolton’s residence in Bethesda, Maryland, as well as his Washington, D.C. office. The investigation centers on whether Bolton improperly retained or disclosed classified documents.
So far, Bolton has not been arrested or charged. FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X: “No one is above the law … FBI agents on mission.” Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Director Dan Bongino also voiced public support for the operation.
Bolton, a longtime hawkish figure in U.S. foreign policy, previously drew controversy with his memoir, "The Room Where It Happened", which was accused of revealing sensitive information without proper clearance. Although that case was dropped in 2021, the raid signals renewed scrutiny.
Observers see the move as part of the Biden administration’s broader effort to examine how former Trump officials handled sensitive national security materials. With Trump himself still entangled in legal battles over classified files, the raid on Bolton adds another layer of uncertainty to an already fraught political landscape.
