Katy Mayor William H. “Dusty” Thiele Visits the Houston International Trade Center
Mayor William H. “Dusty” Thiele of the City of Katy visited the Houston International Trade Center (ITC) today for an exchange focused on regional economic development, international trade, technology, education, and community partnerships.
The visit strengthened ties between the City of Katy and the Houston International Trade Center while opening new opportunities for future cooperation between local government, international businesses, educational institutions, and community organizations throughout the Greater Houston area.
During the meeting, discussions highlighted the rapid growth taking place across Katy and southwest Houston. With continued population expansion, new business investment, and strong development in technology, health care, finance, and education, the Greater Houston region is becoming an increasingly important center for international commerce and innovation.
The Houston International Trade Center has long worked to build bridges between Texas and the global business community by promoting trade, investment, international partnerships, and cultural exchange. Mayor Thiele’s visit demonstrated the growing importance of cooperation between city governments and international economic organizations.
The discussion also included the role of new technologies in shaping the future of cities, including artificial intelligence, smart-city development, digital communications, and workforce training. In the age of AI, a city’s competitiveness will depend not only on infrastructure and real estate, but also on talent, technology, education, and global connectivity.
Education and workforce development were also important topics. Stronger cooperation among local government, schools, businesses, and international trade organizations can help prepare young people and technical workers for the jobs of the future while supporting the workforce needs of expanding industries.
Katy has become one of the most dynamic communities in the Greater Houston region, attracting new residents, businesses, and investment from around the world. The Houston International Trade Center hopes to further develop its relationship with the City of Katy and create new opportunities to connect international companies and investors with Texas.
Mayor William H. “Dusty” Thiele’s visit represents another important step toward stronger regional and international cooperation.
As the global economy continues to change, cities must not only compete—they must also collaborate. Through trade, technology, education, and cultural exchange, Katy and the Houston International Trade Center can work together to create new opportunities for the future.
From Katy to Houston, from Texas to the world—cooperation, innovation, and global connections will help shape our shared future.
