AI 对世界之威胁


人工智慧正以前所未有的速度走入我们的生活。它能协助医师判读影像、帮助企业提高效率，也能让知识跨越语言与地域。然而，当世界為科技突破欢呼时，我们也必须问：人类是否已準备好承担它带来的风险？

其次，是工作与机会的重新分配。AI 可以协助人完成工作，也可能取代部分任务。企业追求效率之际，不能忽略员工转型的代价。对一个家庭而言，工作代表的不只是收入，更是尊严与明天的希望。学校、企业与政府应共同投入培训，让不同年龄、不同背景的人，都有机会学习新的技能。

至於 AI 是否终将全面失控、威胁人类生存，不能把尚未确定的情境当成必然结局。但我们也不应等到伤害发生，才开始讨论责任。涉及生命、安全与基本权利的应用，必须有严格测试、持续监督，以及人类介入和停止系统的能力。

对新闻媒体而言，生成内容愈容易，查证就愈重要；对教育而言，取得答案愈方便，独立思考就愈珍贵。身处休斯敦这座多元城市，我们更应让科技教育走入社区，让新移民、小企业与年轻人都有参与未来的机会。

我们应当拥抱创新，也必须守住人的尊严。衡量 AI 成功与否，除了看它能替世界创造多少财富，更要看它是否让普通人的生活更安全、更有希望。

The Threat AI Poses to Our World

Artificial intelligence is entering our lives at an unprecedented pace. It can help doctors interpret medical images, improve business efficiency, and bring knowledge across languages and borders. Yet as the world celebrates these breakthroughs, we must also ask: Are we prepared for the risks they bring?

One of the most immediate threats is the growing difficulty of separating truth from deception. A fabricated video or a phone call imitating a loved one’s voice can become a weapon of fraud and manipulation. Another challenge is the redistribution of work and opportunity. AI can help people perform their jobs, but it can also replace certain tasks. As businesses pursue greater efficiency, they must recognize the human cost of that transition. For a family, a job means more than income. It represents dignity, stability, and hope for tomorrow. Schools, businesses, and governments should invest together in training so that people of every age and background have a chance to develop new skills.

Even more troubling is the arrival of artificial intelligence on the battlefield. The International Committee of the Red Cross warns that AI-enabled autonomous weapons may make their operation and consequences harder for humans to understand, predict, and control. Whether AI will eventually escape human control and threaten humanity’s survival remains uncertain. We should not present that possibility as an inevitable outcome. But neither should we wait for harm before discussing responsibility. Applications affecting life, safety, and fundamental rights must undergo rigorous testing and continuous oversight, with meaningful human authority to intervene and stop them.

For the news media, the easier content becomes to generate, the more essential verification becomes. For education, the easier answers become to obtain, the more precious independent thinking becomes. Here in Houston, a city shaped by many cultures, we should bring technology education into our communities so that immigrants, small businesses, and young people can all participate in the future.

We should embrace innovation while protecting human dignity. AI’s success should be measured not only by the wealth it creates, but also by whether it makes ordinary people’s lives safer and more hopeful.

Humanity created artificial intelligence, and humanity must take responsibility for its use. As our technology grows more powerful, our commitment to protecting human life must grow with it.
