李蔚华1969年毕业于台湾国立政治大学外交系。 1971年赴美留学，1974年获得克萨斯州州立大学政治学硕士学位。 1979年在休斯敦创办《美国新闻》周报，1984年改为日报。经过十余年的努力经营，现已发展成为包括《美国新闻》、《华盛顿新闻》、《芝加哥时报》、《亚特兰大新闻》、《达拉斯时报》、《波士顿新闻》及英文《美亚新闻》和美南华语电视公司在内的美南报业传播机构，任董事长。 1984年荣获全美杰出青年奖。曾被休斯敦市长任命为该市公共电视委员会委员，并被推选为休斯敦中华总商会主席。 1992年入选《美国企业家名人录》。
